The Christian Reflection

GROUP ACTIVITY SUGGESTION: Duct Tape Human Relay… Break into small(er) groups for a relay. Teams choose three people in their group to duct tape(arms and torso), then carry each individual to a specified point and back to the starting point. The teams that duct tapes, and carries all three people, and finishes back at the starting point wins.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: (adults/leaders, please set the tone by sharing share first) What gives you the heebie jeebies?

HOOK

1. When was a time that something unfair happened to you? It could be at school or home…or wherever.

2. After each person has a chance to respond, say, “Today, we are going to take a look at things in life that don’t seem fair, and how God wants us to respond during these times.”

3. Why is it so important for us to be treated fairly?

4. How important is it to us to be treated fairly when we are in the wrong?

LOOK AT THE BOOK

1. Say, “I am going to read a scripture. As I read it, I want you to consider that mirrors reflect images. According to the scripture, what does God want Christians to reflect?” (Take their answers after you have read the scripture)

2. Read Scripture (see above)

3. Answers to step #1 question: (we are to reflect God’s treatment of us)

4. If God was fair, how would God treat us? (Keep in mind humanity crucified his son)

5. How has God responded to our evil and sin?

TOOK

1. For each of the following instances, ask group #1 what they would be justified in doing, and #2 what does Jesus say we should do? Someone hates you, someone curses you, someone mistreats you, someone steals from you, someone annoys you (For the last one, Jesus might want us to go the extra mile)
