SUGGESTION: ALL GROUP ICE-BREAKER: Cookie eating contest. Bubble Gum blowing contest.
HOOK
1. After breaking into small groups, start out with a competition. Sit in a circle. Each group has 50 grapes. Pick one person who will toss a grape to each person in the circle until all the grapes are gone. Explain that the person who catches the most grapes “EARNS” the prize – a can of cold pop.
When the game is over also give the person who did the worst a can of pop as well.
2. Ask the group, “Are we more likely to earn God’s salvation (like the person who caught the most grapes) or is God’s salvation more like the gift given to the person who didn’t earn it all all?”
LOOK AT THE BOOK
1. Read Scriptures
2. What does the scripture tell us about God’s salvation? How are we saved, and how are we not saved?
3. What’s the difference between a gift and a wage?
TOOK
1. How does it make you feel knowing that your good works can never take away your sin, or earn God’s forgiveness?
2. How should a person react after receiving God’s free forgiveness and salvation?
3. Say, “To forgivess someone even when they didn’t earn the forgiveness is called “GRACE.” Christians are called to live lives full of grace because God has been graceful to us.”
