God With Skin On

GROUP ACTIVITY SUGGESTION:

Break youth into small groups (this can also be an individual challenge) and see which group can stack cookies the highest by the end of 120 seconds. Small group members must take turns doing the cookie stacking.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION:

What’s the last thing you misplaced and had trouble finding?

HOOK

1. Take three minutes to play a game of Charades.
2. Have the group list off all the ways people communicated during the game. (Facial expressions, looks, hands, way they stood, etc.)
3. Just like you tried every way possible to communicate your charade, God wanted to communicate clearly what he was like. That’s why he put on flesh, and came to earth. His name was Jesus.

LOOK AT THE BOOK

1. Read Scripture (see above)

TOOK

1. Brainstorm a list of all the things your group knows about Jesus and what he was like. (Compassionate, loving, forgiving, looked out for the unpopular poor, willing to sacrifice his life for us)

2. If God was willing to put skin on for us, what does that tell us about God? Is there anything God wouldn’t do for us?

3. If we want to know what God is like and what God’s will for our lives is, what must we do? (Seek Jesus)

(Optional question/ if you have time)
4. How do we seek Jesus?
